Cell counting protocol for ioCells

To get the best performance out of your ioCells, it is necessary to accurately quantify the number of cells to ensure that optimal seeding densities are maintained.

Using accurate numbers of cells will help maintain cell health in culture, and ensure a level of standardisation in your procedure to produce reproducible results.

At bit.bio, two methods are used to determine viability for sample preparation and cell counting; 1) Trypan Blue and 2) AO/PI. We recommend using the AO/PI method where possible as this ensures that debris and non-nucleated cells do not interfere with nucleated cell counts. However, trypan blue is a perfectly good option if good adherence to the protocol is kept.
